We detail an original surgical approach in a woman with perforated diverticulitis and CD. Case presentation We report the case of a 53-year-old woman with chronic renal failure admitted for lower right abdominal pain, fever, and an abdominal abscess. Computed tomography (CT) showed active ileocecal inflammation and fluid collecting in the right iliac fossa suggesting intestinal perforation. In addition to localized ileitis and ileocecal colitis, ileocaecal resection for diverticulitis perforation showed a 3×3 cm abscess. Pathologically, the surgical specimen showed transmural inflammation with granulomas and perforation of the end of the diverticulum. Conclusion CD of the ileum may result in intestinal diverticulitis and perforation.

متن کاملFlare-Up Diverticulitis in the Terminal Ileum in Short Interval after Conservative Therapy: Report of a Case
Diverticulitis in the terminal ileum is uncommon. Past reports suggested that conservative therapy may be feasible to treat terminal ileum diverticulitis without perforation; however, there is no consensus on the therapeutic strategy for small bowel diverticulitis. We present a 37-year-old man who was referred to our hospital for sudden onset of abdominal pain and nausea. He was diagnosed with ...

Diverticulosis of the ileum is very uncommon. The differential diagnosis for any inflammatory process in the right lower quadrant of the abdomen includes appendicitis, Crohn's disease, and other infectious and inflammatory conditions of the terminal ileum and cecum. Diagnosis of small bowel diverticulitis is based on radiological findings, and computed tomography is the method of choice to demo...
متن کاملIsolated cutaneous Crohn’s disease: A case report
This case report describes a patient with cutaneous signs in the genital and peri-anal region suspicious of Crohn’s disease without any intestinal symptom or sign. Inflammatory bowel disease can be associated with some cutaneous signs. However, in this paper, we report a patient with isolated cutaneous Crohn’s disease which is very rare (less than 100 case reports across the world). Our patient...
